The Power of the Black Dollar
Currently, a disconnect between Black businesses and Black consumers is an issue that plagues Black American Commerce and the growth of Black American Commerce. According to the From Black Wall Street to the Black Dollar Project from Forward Times Online, “One of the biggest complaints that Black businesses have is that Black consumers don’t support them. One of the biggest responses that Black consumers give is that they would possibly support a Black business if they knew who they were and where to find them. All in all, there has been a tremendous disconnect between the Black business community and Black consumers since the days of Black Wall Street.” Connect2Black solves the disconnection issue that exists between Black businesses and Black consumers. Black consumers play an instrumental and vital role in sustaining the American economy. According to The African American Consumer Report created by National Newspaper Publishers Association (NNPA) and Nielsen Black buying power continues to increase, rising from its $1 trillion level in 2013 to a forecasted $1.3 trillion for 2017, which keeps Black consumers at the forefront of social trends and media consumption.
